The Socially Distanced Supper Club, a Facebook group that supports local restaurants by “flash-mobbing” selected restaurants with food orders on designated nights. The “flash mob” effect has boosted restaurants and food businesses across the county, thanks to the rapid expansion of the Socially Distanced Supper Club concept, which spun to life in Delray Beach in mid-March. It was two Delray dads, John Brewer and Iain Paterson, who dreamed up the club as a way to help local restaurants survive the coronavirus shutdown. Recently featured on the Today Show, the Delray club has more than 10,000 members. After Delray’s Socially Distanced Supper Club became an overnight success, diners and restaurants across the county wanted in. Now, the club idea has mushroomed, with new chapters popping up in north county, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton and, just this week, Wellington.
