CELEBRATE BE KIND TO HUMANKIND WEEK WITH KM365
BOCA RATON, FL (August 1, 2024) – Would you like to make your corner of the world a kinder place? We hope so because you are given the chance to do so every day. Established in 1988, Be Kind to Humankind Week is an annual worldwide celebration of kindness from August 25–31. This week is to honor all the great things you can do to help others. Every day of the week has its own theme, so no one is left out. Who says that one person can’t make a difference? Set aside a few hours every day to do something nice for others. Kindness doesn’t cost a thing, and a little goes a long way.
Sacrifice for Others Sunday: Today’s the perfect day to spread love and do something special for someone in need. Put your desires on hold and give a little something to someone else. How about inviting a friend or family member over for dinner, especially those who don’t get out much? Why not donate that money instead of splurging on something you don’t need? Cook a meal for a sick friend, take your elderly family member out for a fun day trip, or spend the afternoon doing something fun with your kids or spouse. Whatever you do, make today all about spreading kindness and love.
Motorist Consideration Monday: Let’s make our travels more awesome today by practicing patience and consideration. Whether you’re on a bike, boat, bus, car, foot, plane, train, scooter, skateboard, or wheelchair – let’s be kind out there! No texting while driving or walking, and use bike lanes when you can! Move over for emergency vehicles or give up your seat on public transport if someone needs it more. Be patient on the road – no speeding, tailgating, or road rage, or let someone merge in heavy traffic. Let’s make the roads (and skies and sidewalks) happier!
Touch A Heart Tuesday: Who’s ready to share some love today? Love is timeless, and a little bit goes a long way. Mail an uplifting card to someone. Be a good listener – sometimes, just being there is enough. Don’t hesitate to offer a compliment. Leave a short note to let someone know you appreciate them. Call someone to say “Hi” or give someone a plant or flowers to brighten their day. Tell those you love, “I love you,” and if you have kids, don’t miss out on telling them how much you love them! They see themselves through your eyes, so be their mirror of love, kindness, and encouragement.
Lend A Hand Wednesday: Today’s all about lending a hand and spreading some good vibes. It doesn’t have to be significant – even the slightest help can make a huge difference! Bring in a neighbor’s mail. Take an older friend or relative to the grocery store or doctor’s office. Pick up trash in your neighborhood and toss it in the garbage. Help a colleague with their work. Offer to help a sick friend with yard work or housekeeping. Look out for community projects that need volunteers – even one day a month helps! Know someone who needs a ride? Offer to take them! Let’s make today awesome by helping others.
Thoughtful Thursday: Today’s all about being mindful and considerate to those around us. Whether you’re at home, school, work, or out and about, let’s spread some kindness! Hold doors open for people. Give up your seat on the bus or train. Let someone with fewer items go ahead in line. Leave a nice note for a co-worker or classmate. Remember to say please, thank you, excuse me, and you’re welcome! Invite a friend for lunch or send a little note or gift to lift someone’s spirits. These small acts of kindness can make a big difference!
Forgiveness Friday: Let’s talk about something super important – forgiveness. It’s not always easy, but it’s totally worth it. Whether it’s forgiving someone else or yourself, it can really lighten your heart. Holding onto anger just makes things worse. So, let’s try to let go and find some peace. Remember, we’re all human, and we all make mistakes. Forgive, forget, and move forward.
Speak Kind Saturday: Just a quick reminder – words are super powerful! They can lift us up or bring us down, and they can heal or hurt others. So, before you speak or hit send, take a moment to think. Once those words are out there, you can’t take them back! They can really impact someone’s self-esteem and self-worth. Unkind words can spread negativity and hate. Let’s be mindful and spread kindness instead.
